Hello~ So you want to know who I am... what I do... what ignites that fire deep in my belly????
I am Donna Kay Lacey AKA Opal Annie. I have 1 husband, 5 kids, 4 kid-in-laws, 7 grandkids, 2 dog kids, 2 cat kids and 8 new chicken kids. I live in Kirbyville, TX (population 2142) but grew up in Pasadena, Tx (a suburb of Houston).
I sew... I paint... I crochet... I knit... I make. (I also make messes in the process)
Now on to that fire in the belly part. Being drawn to the quirky, unique, eclectic and possibly even eccentric things in life, it was only natural that I become a maker. A creator if you will. What better way to achieve uniqueness than to make something with your own two hands?
Paint moving across fabric, the rhythmic sound of the sewing machine, the awe in people's eyes and the smiles on their faces when they see what I'm wearing, the way I am able to express myself through my clothes.... that... THAT is the FIRE in my belly!

You're still here? Ok, well maybe you want to just wear the cool clothes. I've not yet had the confidence to list them yet. Can't explain why, maybe it's perfectionism, I'm my own worst critic kind of thing. With the events in our world today, I was inspired to list my face masks and have had wonderful response and such kind feedback. Want to see them? It's ok, you can be excused to go check out the "Masks and Caps" section of my store. Look cool and help flatten the curve!
Oh... I see you're still reading. Ok, well, the push to list the face masks has boosted my confidence and I have made it a goal to start listing my wearable art clothes. Follow my shop (or my facebook) and you'll be notified when they go live. When that happens, say a prayer / send good vibes etc... as I'll probably be a nervous wreck anticipating their reception. Visualize pouring your heart out on your term paper and watching as your professor peeks over the rim of her glasses, one eyebrow arched as she begins to read. You stand, knees shaking, waiting.... hoping for a her lips to curl into a smile! That will be me.
